AMOLED is once again back in focus after BOE launched a number of core sizes of finished panels, with Industrial Grade temperature range, and purported longevity of supply and operational half-life.

The risk to Industrial designers has always been supply, with most AMOLED production driven by consumer trending Tablet and Mobile consumption, with often 6 month supply life before an impending design change.

Globally the industry was shaken by CMI's withdrawal in 2010, when they closed their AMOLED facility, having manufactured arguably the first industrial AMOLED to be marketed to Design Engineers. 

​

The benefits of AMOLED are based in superior Optics, response rates, and thinness of the substrate. The contrast can be shown to achieve values as high as 1 Million:1. Further advances in On-Cell Touch have meant that Module Makers can now deliver AMOLED Display and Touch integrated all within a 1mm stack.
